15 - 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
16 - 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
17 - 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, finely grated
18 - 1 clove garlic, minced
19 - 1 teaspoon sriracha or chili sauce, optional

# Directions:

01 - Combine shrimp with soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and black pepper in a bowl. Allow to marinate for 10 minutes.

03 - Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Grill marinated shrimp for 2 to 3 minutes per side until pink and fully cooked through.
04 - Distribute cooked rice evenly among four serving bowls. Arrange edamame, sliced cucumber, and julienned carrot over the rice base.
05 - Place grilled shrimp over the vegetable mixture in each bowl.
06 - Drizzle ginger-sesame dressing generously over each bowl. Top with sliced scallions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • Ready in under 30 minutes, which means you can actually make this on a weeknight without stress.
  • The shrimp gets this perfect char while staying tender, and that ginger-sesame dressing ties everything together like magic.
02 -
  • Don't skip preheating your pan because cold metal and shrimp equals boiled texture instead of that gorgeous char you're after.
  • The dressing tastes better when you make it fresh rather than ahead of time, so save yourself from wondering why it tasted better last time.
03 -
  • Make your rice ahead of time and let it cool completely before assembling, because warm rice and cold vegetables together is a texture disaster.
  • If your shrimp were frozen, make sure they're completely thawed and patted dry before marinading, otherwise they'll release water that dilutes all your beautiful flavors.
