06 - Serve immediately over ice, garnished with mint leaves if using.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • It takes about the time it takes to shower and actually tastes refreshing instead of punishing.
  • The ginger hits you in a way that makes you feel like you're doing something real for your body without any of the kale-chip guilt.
02 -
  • A regular blender works fine here, but if you own a proper juicer, use it—the juice tastes different, cleaner somehow, and worth the extra step if you're serious about this becoming a habit.
  • The amount of ginger that sounds right in your head might be too much when it actually hits your throat; start at one inch and add more if you're braver than I am.
03 -
  • If your blender isn't producing completely smooth juice, strain it twice through cheesecloth instead of once—that second pass makes a shocking difference in the final texture.
  • Store it in a glass bottle rather than plastic if you have one, because plastic starts to smell like ginger after about six hours and then everything tastes like it.
